Retail Pharmacy Service

The Blue Shield of California Participating Pharmacy Network includes all major pharmacy chains and many independent pharmacies in California.  They also provide a broad network of pharmacies outside of California.  To locate a participating pharmacy please visit www.blueshieldca.com.*

To receive covered drugs using your Blue Shield pharmacy benefit, present your Blue Shield member ID card and your prescription to a participating pharmacy.  The applicable retail co-payment will be charged for each covered prescription. A brand name deductible may apply.

Direct Reimbursement Claim form is to be used when the pharmacy does not submit your claim directly to Blue Shield.

If you are taking a medication for a chronic condition such as diabetes on an ongoing basis and your dosage is stable, use the Express Scripts mail-service pharmacy to have a 60- or 90-day supply sent to you. You will save on your copay and there is no charge for shipping. New Prescriptions Step 1: Obtain a written prescription from your provider for a 60- or 90-day supply as allowed by your plan. Your provider can prescribe refills for up to a year.
