FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to submit an application in order to apply?
Yes. Cuesta has two application forms; one for academic (faculty) and administrative positions and one for support staff (non-faculty) positions. You must submit the correct Cuesta College application in order to be considered. The correct application is specified on the job announcement and available with the job announcement on our
website.

Do I need to submit a separate application for each position?
Yes.  You may submit a photocopy of your application; however, you must indicate on the application the specific position title for which you are applying.

Where can I get an application?
Download a copy of the application form from this site. Obtain one from the Human Resources Office.

Where/how may I submit an application?
Applications may be submitted to the Human Resources Office in the Administration Building on the San Luis Obispo Campus, Room 8003,
or mailed to:

Applications may NOT be submitted by FAX or e-mail.

When is my application due?
Applications AND REQUIRED SUPPORTING MATERIALS must be RECEIVED in the Human Resources Office on the specified closing date. Applications/materials received after the closing date will not be considered.

I have applied for a position  with Cuesta in the past. Can I retrieve my application from the human resources office to use for future openings?
No. You may download the appropriate application from our website and save it to your computer or flash drive to use for future openings.

Where can I obtain a typing certificate?

Do I have to complete all portions of the application if I attach a resume?
Yes. You must fill out completely all sections of the application, even if you attach a resume.

May I leave a copy of my resume on file for future job openings?
No. Only applications for current openings will be accepted. If you do not find an opening of interest on our Job Announcements page and would like to be notified of future openings, fill out an Academic Interest Sheet or a Classified Interest Sheet and forward it to the Human Resources Office. Your information will be kept on file for one year.

How long after I apply might I be called for an interview?
Usually within two weeks after the closing date.  (Candidates for interview by phone, others by mail.)

When will my references be checked?
Upon selection as a finalist, as authorized by the applicant on the employment application.  Information on the application may also be verified (such as education, licensure).
