Cuesta College Scholarship Awards

Cuesta College Scholarship Award Review has taken place and Scholarships will be posted through June 2009.  Scholarship checks will be made available to students who meet the following criteria: 1. Have a scholarship award posted and the award is based on the Cuesta College Scholarship Requirements (see below). 2. Have enrolled and registered at Cuesta College in the Donor specified unit criteria. 3. Have returned a thank you letter, made out to the Donor and delivered to the Cuesta College Financial Aid Office.                          Sample of a Donor Thank You Letter                      Donor Criteria List  (Visit this list to personalize your Thank You Letter) 4. Attend the Cuesta College Scholarship Ceremony on August 7, 2009.  An Invitation will be delivered.  If you do not or are unable to attend, your check will be mailed the first week of the Fall 2009 semester.

Cuesta College Scholarship Requirements:  1.      Minimum 2.50 cumulative grade point average in your last semester of college work (we will not calculate multiple transcripts). High school seniors must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA on current transcripts. 2.      New students: Complete the Cuesta College Admissions application as soon as possible. 3.      We recommend that every student complete the 2009/2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by April 25, 2009. Although this is not required for the scholarship application, it increases your chance for further consideration of need-based scholarships. 4.      Two letters of recommendation are required. Letters from instructors, counselors, employers, and community members are preferred. (Recommendation Forms are attached; however letters on relevant letterhead are accepted in addition to the attached forms.) 5.      New and transfer students must enclose a COPY of their academic transcripts from all other colleges attended. High school students need to submit their transcripts that include the Fall 2008 term. **Please note that your official transcripts are required by the Admissions & Records Office** 6.      Scholarships are only available to students who will be attending Cuesta College during the Fall/Spring semester of the 2009/2010 academic year. 7.      Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at Cuesta College. Some donors may require more than 6 units so please be as accurate as possible when projecting your unit enrollment on this form. 8.      Scholarship applicants will be notified of their status the week of May 16, 2009 (Finals week at Cuesta College). 9.      Scholarship recipients will be required to turn in a “Thank You” letter to the Financial Aid Office addressed to his/her donor by July 8, 2009 or their scholarship will be offered to an alternate candidate. 10.  It is VITAL that the address on this application is kept up to date. If you move, you must put in a change of address with the post office to ensure that you do not miss any of the above deadlines. The Scholarship database is maintained separately from MyCuesta, and if you move, you must notify the scholarship coordinator immediately.
