Cost of Attendance Budgets |
|||
|
The cost of attendance for a student is an estimate of that student’s educational expenses for a full time period of enrollment. The Cuesta Cost of Attendance (COA) budgets were gathered using the average expenses done by the California Student Aid Commission (for students with the same enrollment status). Students are awarded on the basis of a COA budget comprised of allowable costs assessed all students carrying the same academic workload. Cuesta College has different standard costs for different categories of students: California residents, non-California residents and Psychiatric Technician (which has specific educational costs). The COA for residents and no-resident students is the estimated cost to attend Cuesta College during the nine-month academic year; the cost allowances for Psychiatric technician program are prorated for twelve- months of attendance. While your individual costs may vary, the COA reflects a modest, adequate living allowance. Your individual circumstances, discretionary expenses, or spending styles may not be the same as the standard COA. Our COA's have two basic types of components. The first are direct costs where al students pay fixed predetermined amounts such as tuition and fees. The others are indirect costs including books and supplies, personal expenses, transportation and living costs for students living at home or off campus. The cost of attendance is the cornerstone of establishing students' financial need, as it sets a limit on the total aid that students may receive for purposes of the Campus-Based Programs and Direct Student Loans and is one of the basic components of the Pell Grant calculation.
