What is EOPS?

The Cuesta College Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS) is a California state funded program that provides an accessible and rewarding college experience to low income students facing social, economic, and educational disadvantages.

The Program was established in 1969 by the California Legislature with the goal  to provide access and educational equity for community college students.

What will EOPS do for me?  Will I get money?

EOPS will provide eligible students with a personalized introduction and orientation to Cuesta College.  Assistance with admissions and financial aid application.  Individual academic, personal and vocational counseling.  Referrals to tutorial service and community resources.   A book grant to help you with the cost of textbooks, at this time it is $200.00.  Field trips to four-year colleges and universities.  Up to the minute information on dates and times for applying for scholarships, Federal and State Grant Programs and other documents that you will need to file on a timely basis.  EOPS does not award a cash grant, but EOPS students are given priority consideration for SEOG Grant, which the Financial Aid Office disburses.
