The Cuesta College Early Childhood Education Program offers courses to prepare students for employment in the field.  Some students will take only a few courses, some will complete a certificate, some will complete an Associate in Arts Degree and others will transfer on to obtain the Bachelor of Arts Degree.     Some of the possible career opportunities in the field are:

Family Child Care Provider

Associate Preschool Teacher ( 12 units in a public funded program)

School Age Program Teacher ( 12 units )

Preschool Teacher ( 12 units in a private program or 24 units in a public funded program such as the California State Preschool or Head Start)

Master Teacher ( completion of a 6 unit specialization after the 24 units)

Site Supervisor in Preschool or After School  Program ( completion of an additional 9 units in supervision and administration)

Program Director -- usually requires the Bachelor's Degree

Elementary School Teacher -- requires the Bachelor's Degree
