GETTING STARTED AT CUESTA COLLEGE

1
APPLICATION Apply to Cuesta College online at www.cccApply.org beginning April 1st for Summer/Fall terms; October 1st for Spring term. New, former (absent 2 semesters) and Enrichment students must apply before registering. Need help with your CCCApply login? Call (800) 468-6927. Need help with your myCuesta login? TRANSCRIPTS Send official (sealed) high school and all prior college transcripts to: Cuesta College Records Office, PO Box 8106, San Luis Obispo, CA 93403-8106. Request Form

PREREQUISITES Request clearance of prerequisite coursework completed at other colleges/universities. Download Form A, complete, & submit with a copy of your transcripts to the Prerequisite Specialists.

ASSESSMENT New students place in an English course one of the following ways:
  • Take the Cuesta College English Placement Exam AND submit high school transcripts.*
  • Earn a 3.7 high school GPA and a grade of A in a high school senior level English Course AND submit high school transcripts.*
  • Complete an English assessment/placement exam at another California public college or university AND submit high school transcripts.*
  • Earn a 'C' or better grade in an English course taken at another college or university (STEP 3 above).
  • Score a 680 or above on the SAT English Writing exam.*
  • Score a 24 or above on the ACT English exam.*
  • Score an 8 or above on the AWPE (UC Analytical Writing Placement Examination).*
  • EAP (Early Assessment Program) status of "Ready for CSU College-Level English Courses".*
  • Pass the AP English Composition or Literature Exam with a score of 3 or above.*
New students place in a mathematics course one of the following ways:
  • Take the Cuesta College Math Placement Exam AND submit high school transcripts.*
  • Complete a math assessment/placement exam at another California public college or university AND submit high school transcripts.*
  • Earn a 'C' or better grade in a mathematics course taken at another college or university (STEP 3 above).
  • EAP (Early Assessment Program) status of "Ready for CSU College-Level Math Courses".*
  • Score a 550 or above on the SAT Math exam.*
  • Score a 23 or above on the ACT Math exam.*
  • Pass the AP Calculus AB exam or AP Statistics exam with a score of 3 or above.*

ORIENTATION Options include:
  • Great Start - in person orientation and assessment
  • myCuesta Mondays - in person facilitated online orientation and small group advising
  • Online - online orientation available via your myCuesta student portal

REGISTER Enroll in classes online via your myCuesta student portal. A myCuesta login will be mailed to you and may also be retrieved online (if SSN provided) once your application is processed. Instructions

COUNSELING Make an appointment with a Cuesta College counselor to complete a Student Education Plan (SEP) that will help you plan future class schedules and achieve educational goals. Appointments are scheduled one week in advance. Please complete STEPS 1-5 prior to scheduling your appointment.

FEES Pay your fees online via your myCuesta student portal (credit/debit cards - Online ONLY) or in person at the Cashier (cash/check/money order).

   

Additional items to consider:

  • MY.CUESTA.EDU GMAIL ACCOUNT - Activate your Cuesta College email by selecting “Click to Launch your my.cuesta.edu Account” link in the Student Email channel on the Student Tab of your myCuesta student portal.
  • ADDRESS - Verify/update your address online via your myCuesta student portal.
  • STUDENT ID Number - Locate your Student ID Number online via your myCuesta student portal.
  • ASCC CARD - Purchase an Associated Students of Cuesta College Student ID card online via your myCuesta student portal.
  • BOOKS - Purchase books in person at the bookstore or online.
  • PARKING PERMIT - Purchase parking permit in person at the Cashier or online via your myCuesta student portal.
  • FINANCIAL AID - Apply for financial aid.
  • EOPS - Apply for Extended Opportunity Programs and Services.
  • DSPS - Apply for Disabled Student Programs & Services.
  • HOUSING - Look for housing in San Luis Obispo County.
