Biography
Cherie Moore
|

More and more we are coming to realize that diet, exercise, and attitude
have everything to do with lasting good health. With the pace that most of us
keep in managing our lives, it's often difficult to know where to start
improving our diets. Cherie Moore is trained, experienced and dedicated to
teaching people practical ways to improve their eating habits and health. Fat
loss, disease prevention, and improved sports performance are not gained from
food restriction, but knowing those foods that are healthful and can be eaten
in abundance. In her Cuesta
College nutrition
classes, Cherie helps to dispel the myths generated by popular ads and fads and
focuses on the current accurate information about food and nutrition.
Cherie received her Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition
from the University
of Hawaii in 1985. She
received a Teaching Credential in Nutrition, Health, and Physical Education
from Chapman College
in Orange, California in 1990. She completed her
Master's Degree in Wellness Management from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, California
in 1992. Cherie has been working in the fitness and nutrition field for over 20
years as a certified fitness instructor, nutrition consultant, aerobic
director, fitness studio owner, ESPN Bodies in Motion demonstrator, weight
training supervisor, head track and field coach, dance instructor, nutrition
guest speaker, elementary PE specialist, high school health teacher, nutrition
instructor, soccer coach, and developed some of the original aerobic and
personal training certification exams. As well as teaching full-time, Cherie recently
completed the Center for Lactation Education Lactation Consultant program. Two
of Cherie's nutrition specialty areas are Sports Nutrition and Maternal and
Child Nutrition, which have inspired her to develop these two classes at Cuesta College.
Cherie enjoys cycling, running, weight training, and triathlons and has
competed in numerous ultramarathon cycling events, which includes a
transcontinental record and a RAAM tandem victory.
