Presents the theory and demonstration of video control room, field, and studio equipment. Transfer: CSU. (Formerly BCST23)

BCST 224A: Basic Audio Production
Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 156.
Presents the theory and practice of audio techniques in radio, television, film, and multimedia, with hands-on use of broadcast standard digital and analog audio equipment to create audio productions in-studio and on the college radio station, KGUR 105.3 FM. Transfer: CSU. (Formerly BCST24A)

BCST 224B: Advanced Radio Production
Prerequisite: BCST 224A or equivalent.
Emphasizes polishing basic production skills and developing new and more complex production techniques by using and working with regions (Digidesign Pro Tools). Students will learn how to create audio regions within a production assignment, move regions, as well as how to spot and grid modes. Transfer: CSU. (Formerly BCST24B)

BCST 224C: Advanced Radio Production
Prerequisite: BCST 224B with a grade of C or better. Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 156.
Builds upon the skills introduced in BCST 224B and introduces theory of programming, format operations, and management of small market stations. Increases computer editing skills using advance mixing techniques, automaton and waveform repair. Transfer: CSU. (Formerly BCST24C)

BCST 224D: Advanced Radio Production
Prerequisite: BCST 224C with a grade of C or better. Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 156.
Builds upon the skills introduced in BCST 224C. Further production skills through the use of Digidesign Pro Tools bounce to disk parameters, conversions and resolutions. Improve air personality skills. Transfer: CSU. (Formerly BCST24D)

BCST 225A: Video Studio Production
Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in BCST 223.
Provides an introduction to television theory, terminology, signal flow and operations within a multi-camera television studio including directing, the operation of broadcast quality TV cameras, audio equipment, switchers, fundamentals of lighting, graphics, video control and recording. BCST 225B: Field Video Production and Editing
Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in BCST 223.
Provides an introduction to the theory, terminology, and operation of single camera video production including composition and editing techniques, camera operation, portable lighting, video recorder operation, audio control, and non-linear editing. Transfer: CSU. (Formerly BCST25B)

BCST 226: Writing for Electronic Media
Prerequisite: ENGL 201A or equivalent with a grade of C or better.
Presents the theory and practice of writing for electronic media including the techniques of narrative and non-fiction writing and scripting, the analysis and writing of radio, television, multimedia, and film formats, including story structure and writing for visual media. BCST 227 Broadcast Performance
Explore techniques necessary to effectively communicate scripts through basic announcing skills. Interviewing, news stories, music announcing, commercial announcing effectively both on and off the air. Practice skills needed to professionally perform in radio broadcasting as a career.
