Cuesta College offers the EMT Refresher course (EMS2) in an online format. This course will review and update your knowledge of the principles and skills required to perform as an EMT-I in the State of California and is divided into modules consistent with the 1994 release of the Emergency Medical Technician-Basic: National Standard Curriculum. The WebCT course site includes a syllabus, content pages, self-administered quizzes/exams and a message board.

NOTE: EMS2 includes a mandatory skills day (see red text above). This day will include various skills stations, including AED and research presentations. Please do not enroll in this class if you have a known conflict with the mandatory skills day, as no alternate dates will be scheduled.

A textbook purchase is not required for this course; however, the student should have their EMT-1 textbook available as a reference. The course is designed to work easily with the textbook Essentials of Emergency Care, by Limmer, Elling and O'Keefe, Brady Books, Prentice Hall Publishing. This text is available for purchase at the bookstore and includes PowerPoint slides on a CD.
