54.0 hours laboratory by arrangement. Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in any college biology laboratory course. Emphasizes observations and techniques used to appreciate and evaluate California's

coastal ecosystems Camping, food, and other expenses will be the responsibility of the students. Acceptable for credit, UC. CSU, UC credit contingent upon UC review.
BIO 9D - Desert Biology Field Studies  1.0 unit

54.0 hours laboratory by arrangement. Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in any college biology laboratory course. Biology 21 or Biology 24 recommended. Presents a field study course on the California deserts. Includes the formation of the deserts and

the ecological relationship of desert plants and animals. Practices field techniques used in data collection and analysis. Camping, food, and other expenses will be shared by the students. Acceptable for credit, UC, CSU. UC credit contingent upon UC review.

BIO 9S - Sierra Biology Field Studies 1.0 unit

54.0 hours laboratory by arrangement. Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in any college biology laboratory course. Studies Sierra ecosystems with emphasis on riparian and meadow habitats, Alpine and coniferous forest ecology and grandeur. Practices field study observations and techniques. Camping, food, and other expenses will be shared by the students. Acceptable for credit, UC, CSU. UC credit contingent upon UC review.

 


BIO 10V -Natural History of  Death Valley National Park      2.0 units

Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in any biology class. Presents a lecture and field study course on the ecology and natural history of Death Valley National Park. Students should be prepared for camping and extensive hiking on and off trails. Weather may be hot and hiking may be in terrain at greater than 8000 feet elevation. See instructor for more information.  Acceptable for credit, CSU, and for elective credit, Cal Poly.


BIO 10E -Natural History of  Eastern California Mountains and Deserts    2.0 units

Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in any biology class. Presents a lecture and field study course on the ecology and natural history of Eastern California Mountains and Deserts. Students should be prepared for camping and extensive hiking on and off trails. Hiking trail may be in rugged terrain at elevations of grater than 10,000 feet. See instructor for more information.  Acceptable for credit, CSU, and for elective credit, Cal Poly.


BIO 10C -Natural History of  the Coast Ranges     2.0 units

Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in any biology class. Presents a lecture and field study course on the ecology and natural history of the Coast Ranges. Students should be prepared for camping and extensive hiking on and off trails. See instructor for more information. Weather may be moist and terrain may be rugged. Acceptable for credit, CSU, and for elective credit, Cal Poly.
