BIO 22 - Introduction to Marine Science 3.0 units

3.0 hours lecture per week. Prerequisite: Eligibility for English 1A. Presents and integrates the fundamental geological, physical, chemical, and biological aspects of ocean processes. Provides a general introduction to marine research, technology, history and mans interrelationship with the sea. Acceptable for credit CSU, UC credit pending. For UC, maximum credit for Bio 7 and 22 is one course.

BIO 22L - Introduction to Marine Science Laboratory 1.0 unit

54.0 hours laboratory by arrangement. Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in or completion of Biology 22 with a grade of C or better. Presents an applied, optional course designed to augment Biology 22, through open-sea, laboratory and intertidal investigations. Acceptable for credit, UC, CSU.

BIO 9C - Coastal Biology Field Studies 1.0 unit

54.0 hours laboratory by arrangement. Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in any college biology laboratory course. Emphasizes observations and techniques used to appreciate and evaluate California's coastal ecosystems. Camping, food, and other expenses will be the responsibility of the students.

Acceptable for credit, UC. CSU, UC credit contingent upon UC review.
