June 16, 2008 Incoming New Student Athlete Agenda/Registration Dates
All athletes have a completed health form before the first practice!

Dear Student-Athlete:

Thank you for your interest in Cuesta College. The athletic department has made arrangements so that you may register early. The new student-athlete orientation will be conducted on Monday, June 16, 2008 and will minimize problems associated with registering for classes. To participate in priority registration it is imperative that you complete the following:

  1. Have your Cuesta College online application submitted now, but no later than June 5, 2008. You may apply online at www.cccapply.org.
  2. To register for this orientation, contact Nancy Webb, Division Assist., at (805) 546-3207 by Monday June 9, 2008.
  3. Attend the new student orientation on Monday June 16, 2008.
  4. Bring official transcripts from your high school, and any previously attended colleges or universities.
  5. You will register online on June 26 (M-R 9:00 am, S-Z 3:00 pm) or June 30 (A-E 9:00 am, F-L 3:00 pm) depending on the first letter of your last name. Fees may be paid at that time using a Visa, Mastercard or Discover.
  6. Enrollment $20.00/unit* subject to change for 08/09 budget (see below for Out of State Fees)
  7. ASCC $10.00 (optional) fall & spring (per semester)/$5.00 summer
  8. Parking $20.00 fall & spring (per semester)/$7.50 summer
  9. Student Center Use $10.00/total school year ($1 per unit-up to $10 per year)
  10. Health Fee $14.00 fall & spring (per semester)/$11.00 summer
  11. Student Representation Fee/$1.00 fall & spring

 

*Beginning in Fall 2008, Out of state students must be prepared to pay $181 fall/spring/summer per unit in addition to all other fees listed above (including $20.00 per unit).

A priority registration helps to guarantee a meaningful schedule. You should plan to be in attendance on June 16, 2008 for the majority of the day. We are pleased you have elected to compete at Cuesta College. If you have further questions, please call the Athletic Department at (805) 546-3207.

Agenda

7:30 am   Welcome for all students and parents.  (Student Center 5401)

FOR FIRST TIME COLLEGE STUDENTS

8:00 – 11:30 am     Assessment Testing (Student Center 5401)

        1. Late Arrivals will NOT be tested.
        2. Students completing the assessment will receive a recommended course placement in Math & English.

11:30 am                Lunch $5 per person (pay on site) – Parents Welcome!

12:30 – 2:30 pm   Orientation (Bring high school and/or college transcripts.)

    Small Groups – Counseling Staff assists you in planning class schedules for one of the following:

    1. Undecided or A.A.
    2. CSU
    3. U.C./Private

Transfer Students who have completed assessment or a math and English class at another college will have the opportunity to meet with a counselor during the morning sessions.  If you have not completed your assessment or a math or English class, follow the first-time student schedule. Testing begins promptly at 8:00 am.  We highly encourage your participation; however, you may make arrangements for another counseling session on another date.  If attending, please bring a copy of assessment results and transcripts.
