Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month’s selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our male selection for November is freshman Grappler Dan Colbert.
Freshman Dan Colbert has established himself as one of the top heavyweights in one of the State’s most competitive divisions. He was posted a 4-0 record at the 2009 Southern Dual Tournament and led the Cougars to 4th place as a team at the event. He is currently ranked #8 in the State with an 11-6 record in the 285-pound division. His 11 wins rank second on the Cuesta team and all six of his losses this season were to grapplers ranked in the top four spots. Colbert is one of the Cougars potential State Meet Qualifiers.
The Cuesta Wrestling team is currently 5-5 on the season. The Cougars will compete in the 2009 Western State Conference Championships during the first weekend of November.
