Chad Dugger - Swimming

Chad DuggerCuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month’s selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month.  This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport.  Our male selection for May is Freshman Breaststroker Chad Dugger.
Freshman Swimmer Chad Dugger etched his name in the Cuesta Record Book at the 2008 Western State Conference Championships by breaking All American Joey Gendron’s 1995 record in the 200 Breaststroke.  Dugger covered the 200-yeards in 2:10.89 and eclipsed Gendron’s mark by nine-hundredths of a second.  The freshman enjoyed an outstanding meet and qualified for the 2008 State Championships in both breaststrokes, the 50-freestyle and as a member of four relays.  Dugger is also an accomplished water polo and was named to the 2008 All Southern California Second Team in the fall.
The Cuesta Swimming team finished second in the Western State Conference and posted an 8-1 record in dual meets this season.   The team will compete in the State Championships on May 1st.
