Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month’s selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our female selection for May is Sophomore Centerfielder Danielle Flores.
Danielle Flores transferred to Cuesta from Taft College and the sophomore centerfielder has been a major factor in the Cougars success this season. Flores is second on the team with a .380 batting average and raised that number to a team-leading .451 during Western State Conference play. Flores spurred the Cougars to the 2008 Western State Conference title by going on a 12-for-17 tear with five RBI in their final five games of the regular season. Flores is also noted for her ability as a fielder and has been the Cougars’ defensive leader in the outfield all season.
The Cuesta Women’s Softball team is 29-18 and won the Western State Conference title. The Cougars are seeded #14 in the 2008 Southern California Regional Playoffs.
