Q. Will I receive a 1098T from Cuesta?
A. Yes, if you:

  • Enrolled in Cuesta College courses during the Spring, Summer and/or Fall 2007 semesters.

  • Registered for Spring 2008 and paid fees by December 31, 2007.

Q. I did not receive my 1098T. Should I? Where can I get another form?
A.

  • This year (2007) 1098T's were only prepared for student who owed eligible fees for the Spring, Summer and Fall 2007.  If you owed fees for one of these terms and you did not receive a 1098T, see the information below from your local IRS office.

  • You can obtain the form from your local IRS office.

  • You can also obtain the form from the IRS web site.

  • Check your address through PAWS on the Cuesta web site.  If you have a "forwarding" order with the post office your 1098T will be forwarded to your new address.  Please be sure and update your address with Cuesta College.  1098T's returned to Cuesta College will be forwarded to updated addresses.

Q. When should I receive my 1098T from Cuesta College?
A.

  • The 1098T forms are mailed to students during the third week of January to the address on file with Cuesta's Admissions and Records Office as of the first week of January.

  • If you moved and filed a change of address with the post office, the 1098T will be forwarded to that address.

  • Returned 1098T's without forwarding addresses, are being kept at Cuesta College (San Luis Obispo Campus). You may obtain a 1098T from your local IRS office, the IRS web site, or contact the Admissions & Records Office at Cuesta College (San Luis Obispo Campus) to see if it's been returned.

Q. Can I update my information with Cuesta College?
A.

  • You may update your information on the NCS-Pearson (National Computer Service) web site at http://www.tra.pearsongov.com/tra/stlocat.htm. On this site, your PIN number is the last 4 digits of your social security number and Cuesta's code is 00119200.  Updates on the NCS-Pearson web site will not update your Cuesta College student information.

  • You may always update and/or correct your personal information with Cuesta College.  Updates to Names and Social Security numbers require a social security card.  Address updates may be made through WEBReg and at the Admissions and Records Offices at all campus locations.

  • You may provide a forwarding address to our Admissions & Records Office and we will resend the 1098T if we have it. We will not update the IRS information.

Q. How can I get my fee information if I no longer have my receipts?
A. 

  • Beginning with the 2005 Tax Year, Cuesta College is required to provide fee information on the 1098T based on the guidelines provided by the IRS. Cuesta College will print the eligible fees charged for the year.

  • Student Fee Information will be available on the Student Fee payment screen within PAWS, which will allow you to print their fee payment information.  Cuesta's web site address is: www.cuesta.edu, you may access this information with your Student ID Number (Social Security Number) and Cuesta College personal identification number (PIN).

  • Students may request a copy of fees paid by sending a written request & self-addressed stamped envelope to Cuesta's Cashier's Office, PO Box 8106, San Luis Obispo, CA 93403-8106.

Q. Which fees are eligible for the Tax Credit?
A.  IRS Guidelines (Pub. 970) state that: “Tuition and Fees that must be paid to an eligible institution (Cuesta College) as a condition of enrollment or attendance…” are eligible to be claimed. At Cuesta College these fees include: Enrollment Fee, Non-Resident Tuition, Course Fee, and Student Center Fee. Fees specifically excluded by the guidelines include: Health Fee, ASCC ID Card, Student Representation Fee, and Parking Fee.
