Cuesta College in compliance with the Taxpayer Relief Act (TRA) of 1997, contracted with Vangent, formerly Pearson Government Solutions, to provide a 1098T form to students who enrolled in credit courses and were charged eligible fees at Cuesta College during the 2007 school year.
Form 1098T will not be sent to students whose eligible fees were waived (i.e., scholarship and BOGW) or who enrolled using a Cuesta ID# (not SSN) who did not incur eligible debt in 2007 (i.e. BOGW recipients). The 1098T is meant to support the student's claim for Education Tax Benefits and includes enrollment information and fee information. Cuesta reports eligible fees charged not payments made. The form is sent to the student's address on file with the Cuesta College Admissions and Records Office at the time of printing in early January 2008. Beginning in January 1998, a number of tax breaks became available to help pay for the cost of higher education.
Cuesta College Personal Fees History Screen Fee Information to be Provided: 2007 Tax Year and continuing for 2008, Cuesta College will provide fee information on the 1098T based on guidelines provided by the IRS.
What Tax Preparer Needs: We encourage all students to keep
their registration receipts to provide proof of fees paid for the calendar year,
regardless of the term of enrollment. Cuesta will provide the eligible
fees
charged, so students will need to provide proof of the amounts paid to their tax
preparer. We suggest that you contact your tax preparer for the best
documentation to use to show fees paid. Fee Payment documentation may be obtained from:
