Steps to become an Enrichment Student:

STEP
1

HIGH SCHOOL APPROVAL PROCESS

Meet  with High School Counselor
The student should visit his or her high school guidance counselor for recommendation and approval of “advanced
scholastic” Cuesta College courses.  Cuesta defines “advanced scholastic” as degree applicable and/or transfer courses. Non-degree, non-transfer  and physical education activity courses should
not be recommended.

Review Prerequisite Requirements
The high school counselor should review Cuesta College’s prerequisite requirements for proposed courses with the
student as specified in Cuesta’s Class Schedule. English and math courses will require assessment testing. Official
(sealed) high school transcripts and AP scores may also be submitted to clear prerequisite requirements.  Approval
should not be granted if prerequisites have not been met.

Complete Permit to Enroll Form
Approved courses should be entered on Cuesta College’s Permit to Enroll form. The form is available online at www.cuesta.edu, click on Students, then Forms & Policies. Be sure to list course department and number (i.e. ENGL 201A) and list alternative course selections in case first-choice courses are unavailable
or if assessment test results place the student in a different level of English or math.

Obtain Authorized Signatures
The Permit to Enroll form requires a combination of signature approvals including the student, parent and/or guardian, and high school principal. All signatures are required.
