CATALOG RIGHTS

Provided a student meets the following definition of attendance, that student may follow the Cuesta College curriculum for degrees and certificates in effect:

  • From the time the student began attendance at a California Community College, California State University, University of California, or any other regionally accredited college or university; or

  • As outlined in a subsequent Cuesta college catalog

"Attendance" means attendance in at least one semester or two quarters each academic year.  A student who misses two consecutive semesters, or three quarters in an academic year, excluding summer session, will lose catalog rights.  In that case, the student must follow (1) the Cuesta College catalog that coincides with the student's date of re-enrollment in any regionally accredited post secondary institution, or (2) a subsequent Cuesta College catalog.  Total withdrawal from a semester does not constitute a one-semester break in attendance when W's are posted on a student's record.  Campus divisions may authorize or require substitutions for discontinued courses in certificate or degree programs.

OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS FROM ALL REGIONALLY ACCREDITED POST SECONDARY INSTITUTIONS ATTENDED AND OTHER APPROPRIATE VERIFYING DOCUMENTS MUST BE ON FILE WITH CUESTA COLLEGE BEFORE A RECORD MAY BE EVALUATED.  If you have work-in-progress at another institution during the term you anticipate completing your final degree requirements, you must request an OFFICIAL transcript of that coursework to be sent to Cuesta College after the grades have been posted.  Transcripts must be sent to:

Non-Native Transcript Evaluation     Return to top

Lower division (freshman/sophomore level) coursework from regionally accredited colleges may be transferred to Cuesta College to meet degree requirements and requirements for transfer general education certification. If non-native units are from a college which is on the quarter system, the units will be converted to semester units (quarter units / 1.5 = semester units). Non-native transcripts must be sent to the Cuesta College Records Office.

Upon application for the associate degree or transfer general education certification, non-native course work units will be posted to Cuesta College records. Transfer grades will be calculated with plus/minus. Applications for the associate degree and transfer general education certification are available in the Admissions and Records Office or online below:
