ACADEMIC (GPA) DISMISSAL STATUS

Our records show that your term (spring or fall) grade point average (GPA) was «GPA». Since this was the second consecutive semester your GPA has fallen below 2.0 (C), you are now subject to dismissal from college. (See the Cuesta College Catalog, www.cuesta.edu, for a description of Academic Probation and Dismissal.)

Failure to comply with the reinstatement options in this correspondence will result in your automatic dismissal from the spring or fall semester.

REINSTATEMENT OPTIONS

You will be allowed to enroll in spring or fall courses if you comply with option "1" or "2" below. If you select option "3," you will regain eligibility to enroll for the fall or spring semester. (Note: These instructions are separate from any communications you may receive from the Financial Aid Office.)

  1. Attend a Dismissal Reinstatement Workshop to be eligible for probationary reinstatement.

  • Select a workshop from the enclosed schedule.

  • Complete and return the enclosed workshop form to the San Luis Obispo Campus Counseling Office at least one day prior to the workshop you plan to attend. (No workshop reminder will be sent.)

  • At the workshop, agree to adjust your fall or spring schedule of courses as recommended by the Cuesta College counselor.

  • At the workshop, agree to the conditions of the Contract for Probationary Reinstatement.

  1. Appeal for a late course withdrawal. Contact the Admissions and Records Office for information about an appeal for a late course withdrawal if you believe that serious and extenuating circumstances existed resulting in your poor performance (medical, legal, or personal). Verifying documentation will be required. If an appeal is granted, you may be removed from the academic dismissal status. If not, you would be required to attend a dismissal reinstatement workshop. (See option "1" above.)

  2. "Sit out" one full semester. If you decide not to attend the fall or spring semester, you would regain eligibility to enroll at Cuesta for the spring or fall semester.

Please call the Cuesta College Counseling Office at (805) 546-3138 if you have questions. Calls will be accepted Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
