Notetaking Services
Procedure
-
A DSPS Specialist or Counselor verifies the disability and authorizes notetaking services.
- Student makes an appointment to request a notetaker. For an appointment at
the SLO Campus, contact the DSPS Support Services Reception Desk Assistant or at
North County Campus (NCC), contact DSPS Program Assistant.
- The SLO DSPS Support Services Assistant or NCC DSPS Program Assistant contacts
the instructor with a confidential letter requesting assistance to find a notetaker.
- The instructor will announce anonymously that a notetaker is needed in the class
and to see the instructor after class for more information.
- Student, instructor, and notetaker meet briefly after class for an introduction.
The two students make arrangements for sharing notes, either by using a NCR tablet or
duplicating (free of charge) the notes using the copier located in the DSPS Support Services office.
- Student and notetaker must contact SLO DSPS Support Services Assistant or NCC
DSPS Program Assistant to confirm arrangements and record information.
Any violation of the above procedure may result in the suspension of this service.
Suspension of future notetaking services will be
determined following a review by the DSPS Director, SLO Support Services Coordinator
or NCC DSPS Program Assistant and DSPS Specialist.
If notetaking services are suspended, the student will receive
written notification. If a student wishes to appeal the decision, they should
follow the "Student Grievance Procedure" which is outlined in the current Cuesta College catalog.
