Adapted Studies
Class Description
This individualized class allows students to work on special projects. The
class allows the student to hone in their current skills and to find new ways
to compensate through technology for their disability.
Adapted studies also gives the student the opportunity to explore new
technologies that are of interest to them. Technologies that may be explored
may include, but are not limited to, scanning, voice recognition, screen
reading software, brailing, word processing, and many others.
Students who take this class like to be creative and they enjoy the customized
content and schedule for the course. This course is appropriate for all levels.
It allows students to try out technology with a safety net.
During the first week of classes you will want to meet with the instructor
to work out a plan for the semester. After this is agreed upon the student
will also plan a schedule of how and when to work on their project(s). Then
the instructor will confirm that this is appropriate and acceptable.
Next the instructor will work throughout the semester with the student to
accomplish the student’s goals. By the end of the semester the student should
have made measurable progress towards their goals and in the use of technology.
This class is repeatable and is offered as Credit/No Credit only.
