Academic Support Lab

WELCOME! To the Academic Support Lab (ASL). This lab provides students with the opportunity to improve basic learning skills following specialized programs designed to provide training in the fundamental learning skills necessary for academic success.

There are two ways to use the Academic Support Lab:

Enroll in ACSK 005 and earn credit for the time you spend studying
Use the lab on a "Walk-In" basis

The best features of the Academic Support Lab are its relevance, flexibility, and support.

You can come in at anytime during the day and stay for as long as you like.
Select the skill(s)
Choose the level of difficulty you need
Receive all the assistance you require

ACASK 5 is also low stress because as a "credit/ no credit" course, your grade is based solely on the number of hours you spend in the lab over the entire semester.

The Academic Support Lab

Provides students with specialized computer-assisted and video-tutorial programs to assess and improve academic skills in reading, spelling, grammar, writing, vocabulary, mathematics, study skills, and ESL.
Offers comprehensive assessment of student learning needs, individualized computer-aided instruction in basic skills, supplemental instructional modules for selected courses, and specialized computer-assisted and video-tutorial programs to assess and to improve academic skills in reading, spelling, grammar, writing, vocabulary, mathematics, study skills, and ESL.
An open entry computer and audio-tutorial lab.
Students can work independently on improving skills in grammar, writing, vocabulary, spelling, math, reading, study skills, English as a Second Language, keyboarding, and word processing.

The Academic Support Lab is located in the Academic Support Center, room 3300, on the SLO Campus.

On the NCC, the ACASK 5 course is available in the open computer lab, room 5004.
